Shooting a car commercial in ninety minutes of light
How we planned the Ferro GT launch film around one sunset, and what we would do differently.

The Ferro GT launch film had one hard rule: the car had to be shot at sunset, on a real mountain road, with no grading tricks to fake the light.
Plan to the minute
We drove the route three times in the week before, timing every bend against the sun. By shoot day each set-up had a start time and a finish time, and the tracking car knew exactly where to be.
Shoot the cutdowns on purpose
Eight cutdowns were planned from day one. That meant framing every key shot for 16:9 and 9:16 at once, and grabbing short, punchy moments for the six-second edits.
We got the last usable shot with four minutes of light to spare.
